More than two years before Dogecoin, LOLCOIN surfaced in Bitcoin's strange, experimental early internet culture.
In July 2011, a pseudonymous figure called Mitsubishi Goldstein joked that LOLCOIN would be generated when an early social account reached 100 followers. The post survived. The person stayed a mystery. The punchline lasted.
